Follower’s Footpath

How do we grow in our relationship with Jesus?

You can’t do the Christian Life Alone. Not shouldn’t – can’t.

We need several ingredients to grow our faith – Truth, Spiritual Habits, Community, and the Holy Spirit, plus two we can’t control – Time and Suffering.

We are made for community and the follower’s footpath is one way we do it at Woodstock Wesleyan Church. The Bible is our curriculum and every group is focused around the things Jesus ministered through: talking, eating, scripture, prayer, and caring for others. Each type of group is about growing in relationship and accountability with Christ and others.

What is the Follower’s Footpath?

The Follower’s Footpath is a discipleship journey at Woodstock Wesleyan to support you as you grow in your relationship with Jesus.

The journey starts at Outposts, where curious people encounter Christian community, and continues through the Trail Head, Explorer, and Trekker stages – each deepening commitment to Jesus, community, and mission. Guides equip mature believers to lead, disciple others, and multiply impact for the Kingdom.

The Follower’s Footpath is a lifelong pursuit of Jesus, inviting us to keep moving in the same direction together.

Types of Groups

Trail Head Class – This is a shorter, 4-6 week class on a topic, such as bible reading, or what it means to be a follower of Jesus. There may be homework to complete during the week.

Connection Group – This group is larger in number and is usually defined by gender, life stage, or common interest.

Discovery Group – These groups focus on a passage read together from the Bible and we ask the big questions: What does this say about God? What does this say about people? What are we going to do with it?

Bible Study – This is the traditional Bible study, usually based on a curriculum book or video that you watch together and discuss.

Accountability Group – These groups are built for deep relationships and thrive in an atmosphere of trust. To help you find the right fit, we’d love for you to reach out, and we’ll walk with you in discovering a group that’s best for you.

Outposts are intentional places where people interact with people who do not yet know Jesus.
